The Goodwill Bridge is one of a wealth of new pedestrian bridges traversing the rivers of cities across the world, all seeking to enhance urban connectivity. Albeit far more economical than any of these, The Goodwill Bridge departs from trends based upon pure structure to create a journey of parts – one, a ‘pier’ stretched under Captain Cook Bridge to a central pavilion, the central segment a tilted dual arch span and the third a rampart intersecting an upgraded Queensland Maritime Museum. This trilogy translates into a series of subtly varied experiences of our magical river now enjoyed by over 50,000 commuters and enthusiasts per week.
