The Field Museum was designed by Burnham & Co. in the manner of a Greek Temple. Exhibits from the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition constituted the museum’s initial basic collection. Chicago architect Harry Weese (DC Metro # 106) renovated the building in 1977, and an underground expansion by Skidmore Owings and Merrill was complete in 2004. Modeled by Crystal V. Olin.
