The Adolphe Bridge was built in 1903 as the largest stone arch bridge in the world and is the national symbol of the Luxembourgers. It crosses the Pétrusse valley with a wingspan of 84.55 m at 42 m height. With 17.2 m width it makes an extension of the Boulevard Royal, and thus it connects the old town and the train station area. The foundation stone was laid on 14 July 1900 by Grand Duke Adolphe according to the plans of engineer Paul Séjourné. Luxembourgers also call it the "Nei Bréck" (New Bridge).
