Located in downtown Lowell's historic district. Building is still headquarters to the local bank. The bank was started in 1854 by local businessmen and clergy because none of the banks in Lowell would accept deposits of less than $1.00, which was above the means of the average mill worker at the time. The name of the bank is derived from the amount of deposit that they would accept... "Lowell Five Cent Savings Bank".
