Located on the campus of the University of Colorado, this building was named after Andrew J. Macky, a prominent Boulder citizen who settled there during the gold rush. Macky donated $300,000 to the University of Colorado so that an auditorium may be built. CU President Baker and the architects combined and varied ideas from favorite buildings abroad to create the design. With a Neo-Gothic style, the Macky Auditorium was constructed using sandstone and red tile. Construction began in 1909 but, due to some legal issues, wasn't completed until 1922. Over the years, the Macky Auditorium has held many events, including performances by Benny Goodman, Yo Yo Ma, and REM, and talks by the Dalai Lama and Dr. Jane Goodall. Model created by Noël Nemcik.
