This nice hotel is not the best rated hotel ever. Reviews say rooms are dirty, customers are overcharged. but The exterior doesn't seem to be that bad. It is actually a extraordinary piece of history, and an outstanding Art Deco building. Though it looks like regular Art Deco, it is very different from others. For example, the entire central bay of the tripartite front facade, is painted aluminum-color. On regular tripartite facades, the windows on the wings are usually cornered which lets wind blow trough the rooms. On these wings, the windows aren't; moreover, the first windows on the side are actually about 4 feet away from the corner. The windws are also not shuttered, but have a strange pattern of smaller windows. On this facade, the central bay is narrower than the wings. And it doesn't seem to thrust forward compared to the wings. There is no bass-relief decoration to be found. Even the eyebrows are different; the are shorter and provide less shadow. At night, a lot of neon decorates the hotel; a common element of Art Deco. To many locals this style of unusual Art Deco is known as Alto Deco.
