The building was erected in the 15th century. A hig entrance hall and fifteenth-century murals with the figures of St. Dorothy and Catherine survived inside. During the years 1437-1463 the tenement house beloing to Łukasz Watzenrode, the grandfather of Noclaus Copernicus, then from 1463 to 1499 it belong to his uncle, the mayor of Toruń Tileman von Allen. During the years 1866-1890 the building housed a print shop of Józef and Sylwester Buszczyński, where a Polish "Gazeta Toruńska" (Toruń Newspaper) was printed.
