The Oberth Class was a mid-size starship in use from the 2280s through the later 2300s. Usually unarmed, and originally designed for scientific missions--the class proved versatile enough for use in diplomatic, civilian, and starbase functions in its later life cycle. The USS Squyres was comissioned in 2322, and named after Steve Squyres, a NASA scientist who explored Mars in the early 21st Century. (This was a lot of fun to build. The ship is easily overlooked next to the various Enterprises, but it's actually a beautiful design.)
