Geodesic Division of Icosahadron • Model revised 31 March, 2008, to more uniformly distribute vertices • Vertex positions were 'optimized' on the surface of the sphere, using an electron-charge repulsion algorithm (search online for "Thomson problem") • Class II Tessellation Grid • Frequencies 10-through-16 • This class division method also referred to as 'triacon' method, based on the triacontahedron, rather than the icosahedron • Spheres are 1-foot radius • Use 'scale' tool to increase to dome size desired • NOTE: Only frequency multiples of 2 apply in Class II tessellation • See cross-reference model, "Geodesic Catalog • Tessellation" for definition and derivation of classes and frequencies:
