Orignally ordered by Pacific Air Lines, it was not taken under. It was delivered to Air California instead in 1970 and was leased to PSA from 1972 to 1974. Air California was rebranded in the 1980's as AirCal. The aircraft was transferred to American Airlines in 1987 after the merger and leased to Braniff shortly in 1989.
