The John Joseph Moakley United States Courthouse is located near the Evelyn Moakley Bridge in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. Construction of the building began in October 1994 and was finished in July of 1998. The John Joseph Moakley building was named after Congressman Joe Moakley shortly after his death. The building contains two courtrooms for the Court of Appeals, 25 courtrooms for the District Court, 40 judges' chambers, a Circuit law library, the office of a United States Congressman, offices for the United States Attorney, support facilities for the United States Marshals service, Pre-Trial and Probation services, and a day-care facility.
