Building of this church started in 1837 and was finished in 1838. During the Battle of Arnhem (Operation Market-Garden) the church got hit just above the organ (probably on the 17th of September, by a misdropped bomb from the Mosquitos attacking the army barracks situated only some 50 yards to the north) because of this a tier was removed. Further renovations took place after the war and the church is still in use today.
