(c) Generalfeldmarschall - The second monastery church in the city (after the Church of the Holy Incarnation), this building was part of the former monastery founded as a communituy for Conceptionist nuns by D.ª Inés Muñoz de Ribera in 1573. The curious design is a direct consequence of the works to widen Abancay Ave between 1947 and 1953, when the church was mutilated and about one third of the original structure, including the dome and presbytery, was demolished - however, iit's east/west orientation spared it from total destruction, a fate suffered by other churches including St. Theresa's, just a few blocks down the street. The remaining structure was demolished in the 60s, only the typical Limean Baroque gateway and the bell tower from the original church were left standing.
