Matsushige lock gate was built as a sluice which will connect the Nakagawa canal to Horikawa in 1930, and it functioned as a water transport institution. However, when cargo shipment converted into land transportation from water transportation, shipping vessels also decreased, and it was closed down in 1968. Then, it was fixed as a park and the Matsushige lock gate was designated as city tangible cultural properties. .
