Bankside Power Station, now known as the Tate Modern was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and is now Britain's national museum of international art. The buildings centeral chimney stands at 99m tall. The chimney's height was limited to less than that of St Pauls Cathedral, on the other side of the river. The power station closed in 1981.
