E Deck held the main passageway for crew and third class to get from the bow to the stern, known as Scotland Road. It runs about 530 feet in the middle of the ship, only broken up twice by watertight bulkheads but accessible still due to watertight doors. Besides the Road, E Deck had the last of the first class cabins, second class cabins, and third class berths, aft for woman and families and forward for single men. The massive engines could be heard through the vibrating bulkhead walls speeding the ship west-ward on her voyage, and stopped only once she had hit the iceberg on April 14th, 1912...
