Howard L. Cheney, 1937, 1300 Washington Avenue. This federal building, more simplified in design than most Art Deco buildings, is sometimes defined as "Moderne," rather than Art Deco. The structure is planar, streamlined, with minimal adornment. Here wings extend from the large drum-shaped central section. Inside the large circular hall are a fountain and murals. Rows of bronze mailboxes stretch the entire surrouding walls. A ceiling painting shows a sun and a large skylight. I've also modeled this interior, so check it out in GE or SU!
