The Artful Dodger is a pub on Micklegate in York and forms part of the once infamous 'Micklegate Run'. Until 1970 the premises had been known as 'The Board' and at one time was owned by Walker and Scott, wine and spirit merchants. Whilst it held a six day ale license for consumption on the premises, it's main business was both retail and wholesale off sales. Rather suprisingly by today's standards, it had no Urinal or EC for the use of the public or customers! This now has at least been rectified! It has also previously been known as 'Walkers Bar' and 'W Bar'. Words by Hugh Murray.
