Designed by Drayton Patriota
From: Boston, United States
Shelter location: Brazil
Date submitted: August 25, 2009
The dunes at Lencois Maranhenses move 8-12 feet yearly. The Deriva Shelter accentuates a ‘place’ in this vast landscape. It acknowledges the minimalist and voluptuous curves. It defines moment that will be gone… like the rain created lagoons. A celebration of the vernacular construct and the raw existence of human condition. It sits purposely on the threshold between water and sand until eventually encompassed by the non-dormant sand drift.
