A beautiful Taper Leg end table with arching angled skirt that terminates using angled blind mortise & tenon joinery. A solid fiddleback maple top is held in place using 7/8 NIB magnets & cups to allow for wood movement and to secure the top firmly to the tapered African Padauk (Pterocarpus soyauxii) legs. The skirt uses french polished Cocobolo (Dalbergia retusa) whose figure color and texture provide dramatic contrast with the legs and top. Finally 3/4 Type M copper pipe couplings are cut into rings, mirror polished and slipped over the magnet cup combination to conceal and color the unconventional magnetic connection. Disassembly will yield accurately dimensioned parts for those who wish to build one.
