USS Stargazer was commanded by Jean Luc Picard for 22 years--his only other command position before becoming Captain of the Starship Enterprise (NCC-1701-D). The Stargazer saw action during the Federation-Cardassian wars of the 2340's and 50's. The ship was assumed destroyed in a battle in 2355, but later turned up in an altercation with Ferengi salvagers, and was ceremonially decomissioned at the Starfleet Museum in 2364. Here the Stargazer is pictured as she would have appeared after her second refit.
(The "bridge module" including the Observation Lounge was built by Reredias. The warp nacelles are borrowed from Prosta's Constitution Refit Enterprise-A, with modifications to fit the Constellation Class. It was difficult to find good pictures of the studio model, and all the blueprints on the web contradict each other on detailing, so *many* of the smaller details are--naturally--embellished.)
