The Villa Ludwigshöhe near Edenkoben is a former summer residence of King Ludwig I. of Bavaria. In 1846 he realized his desire for an Italian-style villa surrounded by vineyards and Chestnuts and the mild climate of the Palatinate region. Ludwig I. spent every two years during the summer months of July and August in the villa, where he also celebrated his birthday. Today, the neoclassical building is used for of concerts and it also houses the Max Slevogt gallery.
