Designed by the architectural firms of Edward Durell Stone of New York, and Reynolds, Smith, and Hills of Jacksonville, The Florida State Capitol building in Tallahassee was constructed from 1973-1977. Intended to symbolize the growth and development of Florida, the “New Classic” building stands 22 stories tall, not including three underground floors and an omitted sixth floor.
