Steel arch bridge in New York, spanning over East River in a place called Hell Gate. The bridge was completed in 1916 and its main span is 310 meters long. It carries three railroad tracks. The Bridge was designed by Gustav Lindenthal who had a revolutionary idea, that the bridges won't have to carry the full dead load of a train. As the train moves across, it displaces its load evenly along the bridge, so the bridge can be built more lightweight and less expensive. The Hell Gate Bridge is currently the 20th longest arch bridge in the world.
