The Mississippi State Capitol, known as the “New Capitol” has been home to Jackson, Mississippi’s state legislature since 1903. Designed by Theodore Link, a St. Louis architect, the current state capitol building is the third in the city of Jackson. An eight foot tall and 15 feet wide eagle soars above the dome, made of solid copper and gilded with gold leaf.
