An incomplete model, showing the crucial elements -- the amount of interior space, the (optional) apparatus along part of the side to hold Langford frames. The top floating above represents a row of top bars. See kofu in BeeSource forum for discussion of this model.
Questions -- does creating closed 'pockets' provide space for vermin? If it's left open to the bees, will they keep the vermin out? If they build in there, will it interfere with the rest of the operation -- pulling frames, etc?
Two possibilities for below the Langford frames: (1) a false bottom, same questions as above about vermin..., (2) let the bees build comb hanging from the bottom of the frames.
