The Rhode Island State House is located on Smith Hill in Providence, Rhode Island. It is a landmark visible from downtown and several surrounding highways. It was designed by the architectural firm of McKim, Mead and White and completed in 1901. The building is 233' high from the base to the highest most point. It reflects Rhode Island's political, cultural and economic standing at the turn of the century in the grandeur of its neoclassical design.
