Six years ago, PHA entered into a contract with the City of Charlottesville to implement the 10th and Page Street Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative. The Neighborhood and PHA developed the project in alignment with Neighborhood/City Goals (City Housing Strategy and Neighborhood Comprehensive Plan).
When construction is complete the total reinvestment in the 10th & Page Street Neighborhood will amount to nearly $6.0 million. PHA's 10th and Page Street project has raised the bar for affordable housing development inititatives nationwide by committing to excellence in the design and construction of homes for very low to moderate income families. PHA's new homes are built to stringent standards of durability and energy efficiency so that the purchaser of the home is financially protected from the high operational and maintenance costs usually associated with low-income housing. While the initital price-point of PHA's homes may be slightly higher than less durable and efficient homes, the long-term costs to the buyer will be far less - monthly costs for heating and cooling, as well as the costs of replacement of systems such as roofs, siding, windows and flooring will be far lower.
PHA is proud that it built the first affordable Earthcraft certified home in Virginia, located in the 10th and Page Street Neighborhood.
