Trakai Island Castle is located on an island in Lake Galvé, in Trakai near Vilnius, Lithuania. Its construction began in the 14th c. by Grand Duke Kęstutis and completed by his son Vytautas the Great. It held great strategic importance up to the 15th c., when it became a residence. After falling into disrepair in the 17th c., it was reconstructed in several phases from 1888 to 1961 in a 15th century style.
