The West Virginia State Capitol is located in Charleston, West Virginia. Completed in 1932, it overlooks the Kanawha River and is currently the tallest building in the state of West Virginia. Designed by architect Cass Gilbert, the limestone structure was thought to have totaled around $10 million dollars in construction costs. Upon completion of construction, Governor William G. Conley dedicated the capitol on June 20, 1932.
