(c) Generalfeldmarschall - The Berlin City Palace (Gr. Berliner Stadtschloss) was the main residence of the Hohenzollern monarchs from the early 18th century until the abolition of the German Monarchy in 1918. Its as a combination different styles, including Baroque and Renaissance; and numerous architects, including Andreas Schlüter and Friedrich August Stüler, took part in its history. The building stood in the center of the "Spreeinsel", the old Cölln quarter in Berlin-Mitte for about four centuries, before being blown up by the SED Communist government in 1950.
