The Basilica of Saint Anthony of Padua (Italian: Sant'Antonio da Padova) is the most remarkable church of Padua, visited as a place of pilgrimage by people from all over the world.
The new basilica was begun in 1238 as a single-naved church, like that of St Francis of Assisi, with an apsidal chancel, broad transepts and two square nave bays roofed with hemispherical domes like that of San Marco, Venice. The style was Romanesque...
