The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia opened on Penn Square in 2000 after an $88 million dollar renovation of two early 1900 buildings: the Girard Trust Company and Mellon Bank. Originally designed by McKim, Mead and White in 1930, the rotunda, with a likeness to the Pantheon, and 120m/394ft tower were completed in the neoclassical style. The conversion of the structures for hotel use was completed by Garrison and Skarmeas Architects. Model created by Matt Brown.
