Emmerich Rhine Bridge crosses the river Rhine near the city of Emmerich am Rhein, Germany. The bridge was constructed between 1962 and 1965 and has the longest suspension span in Germany with 500 meters. The 22,5 meter wide deck carries two vehicular lanes of Bundesstrasse 220 and two pedestrian / bicycle lanes. The deck has a clearance of 30 meters from the river surface. The two 75 meter tall steel towers hold up the two 45 centimeter thick suspension cables each consisting of 61 subcables.
