Excellent conception! Glass callings would also need shielding of sorts from radiation, unless this is a post-terraforming burg. I did something like this in my Graduate Futures Studies program, except we domed over a high walled canyon. Our studies indicated that any dome on a pre-terraformed world would have problems from wind scuffing and polishing the glass to opaqueness. I considered an electric field that might polarize the sand particles and act like a force field of sorts. Also, consider that doming over a set of structures can be accomplished via inflated coverings. We thought about wire mesh reinforced hollow flexible tubes, like the ones they use on some sports cars. The air pressure alone on mars would suspend the dome. Indeed, it would have to be tightly secured to prevent it from taking off into space. Utilizing bedrock might still require a plastic layer to fill in micro-cracks. This is a realy great concept. Good work.
