Designed by Graham,Anderson,Probst & White and Financed by John G. Shedd, the Shedd Aquarium was built in 1929 as a gift to the city of Chicago. It was the largest indoor aquarium for a number of years, and today maintains that grandeur with 5 million gallons of water, 25,000 fish and over 2 million patrons a year. A Large addition was added in 1991 by designers Zalk Josephs Fabricators including a 3,000,000 gallon tank which made it the largest indoor marine mammal facility in the world. In 2008, another addition and renevation was built by Architectual Glass Works and Valerio Dewalt Train Associates. Also known as "The World’s Aquarium". Original model by Alex Juhola/Google, updated and remodeled by Nickvet419. |
