Google SketchUp is free, easy-to-use 3D modeling software. Check out our video tutorials or dive right in with our self-paced tutorials (we recommend starting with this one).

Use Google Maps Street View imagery to add real-world photo textures or take your own photos. Refer to our Photography Guidelines for tips. Be sure to find out (or at least estimate) the height of the building.

Download Google Earth and make sure the 3D Buildings layer is turned on to see 3D models that other users have contributed. Use Google Earth to import aerial imagery and 3D terrain into Google SketchUp. Take a look at this article for specifics.

From Google SketchUp, choose File > 3D Warehouse > Share Model... and upload your model to the Google 3D Warehouse. Select the "Google Earth Ready" checkbox on the 3D Warehouse upload form and within a few days you'll know whether your model has been accepted.
